摘要

Aquaculture, the fastest-growing food sector, can contribute to food and nutrition by providing beneficial aquatic proteins and fats. However, it faces challenges such as climate change, pollution, and water scarcity. Nanotechnology has emerged as an innovative tool in nutritional aquaculture, aquaculture biotechnology, genetics, reproduction, fish health management, and environmental quality. Nanotechnology tools include nanomaterials, nanosensors, DNA nanovaccines, gene delivery, drug delivery, nanotagging, and seafood preservation. These tools can be useful to solve problems like animal health, production, reproduction, prevention, and treatment of diseases. Nanotechnology-based systems have been utilized to enhance production, efficiency, and sustainability. Nanotechnology research is expected to revolutionize science and technology, boosting livestock production in the future. This chapter presents the recent nanotechnology developments and its applications in aquaculture.
