The World Health Organization states that individuals embracing a healthy lifestyle can serve as positive role models for their families and society at large. Adopting a healthy lifestyle reduces the risk of lifestyle-related diseases such as diabetes, heart disease, cancer, and pulmonary diseases while enhancing the quality of life and extending life expectancy. Conversely, an unhealthy lifestyle increases the risk of severe illness or premature death. This chapter outlines the relationship between lifestyle and disease risks and the impact of lifestyles on public health and compares the lifestyles of residents in Guangzhou, Hong Kong, and Macao within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. The comparison includes aspects of diet, exercise, alcohol consumption, smoking, and sleep, as well as the health indices of the residents in these regions. This chapter provides an in-depth understanding of the current state of local health policies on promoting a healthy lifestyle and the difficulties and challenges in fostering healthy lifestyles and inspires insights on how to optimize policies that promote a healthy lifestyle, which, in turn, contributes to the reduction of long-term economic pressures on individuals and society in the future.
