摘要

Bacteriophages are viruses that infect and replicate in host bacteria with specificity. The ability of the bacteriophages to break bacteria at the end-of-life cycle paves the way for its antibacterial effect and therapeutic purposes. Bacteriophages possess beneficial properties to reduce bacterial contamination in poultries, agriculture, aquaculture, medicinal purposes, etc. Recent research suggests phage therapy as an effective alternative or a supplement to antibiotic therapy. This chapter focuses translational potential of lysin using its antibacterial effect on various bacterial pathogens which pose challenges in many industries including but not limited to food and pharmaceutical industries.
