Translational Research Platform for Biomedical Sciences: Establishment and Endeavors

  • Thiyagarajan Sanjeevi

摘要

Basic and applied research are the two categories into which research is traditionally divided. Fundamental research plays a crucial role in enhancing our understanding of health-related and pathological conditions; however, it does not directly convert this knowledge into practical applications that are clinically effective. By utilizing our comprehension of how illnesses develop and advance, applied research facilitates the development of novel diagnostic tools and medications for the benefit of patients. It connects researchers conducting fundamental biological studies with those working in clinical settings. The main objective of the “translational” research platform is to move research from the “bench to the bedside” by fusing advances in basic science and molecular biology with clinical trials. Improving human health is the fundamental tenet of translational research in biomedical science. As a result, a connection between academics and the medical sciences would aid in creating new ideas and intellectual property rights and products. There must be a clear link between surgical sciences and academia. In this situation, surgeons must develop their scientific skills so they can study, ask questions, and put their findings into practice.
