Finite Element Based Elastic Modelling and Analysis of Two Dimensional Roadcut Slopes
摘要
Road infrastructure development in hilly terrains such as in Himachal Pradesh requires a thorough comprehension of slope stability to provide safe and sustainable transportation networks. The geological features, such as variety of rock formations and a steep topography, highlight the significance of detailed investigations for roadcut slope and its stability. Recent developments in finite elements based computational techniques have offered a reliable and detailed framework for evaluating slope behavior. Presented work in this paper includes a simplified analysis of a two-dimensional road-cut slope using elastic modeling method considering plane strain condition. Elastic analysis is simpler and faster approach. It holds significance in assessing road cut slopes, especially in the initial stages of analysis and for certain applications. A testbench rock-slope and essential material properties used in developed finite elements based elastic model of road-cut slope site. The analysis of model includes comprehensive information of deformations, axial and shear stress distributions, axial strain distributions, and volumetric strain distribution. The results obtained are further validated with the other commercial software. The developed MATLAB based model is more flexible and able to incorporate material and geometrical non- linearities. The analysis is simpler, quick assessment tool and recommended for early-stage study of the road-cut slope.
