Hajj Crowd Control for Better Management of Pilgrims
摘要
Over the last decade, overcrowding is one of the onerous challenges of management. During Hajj every year more than 3 million pilgrims participate but due to limited time, area, huge crowd, and mismanagement a series of events occur that result in loss of thousands of lives. Management must be aware of diversity and complexity of the crowd, also psychological aspects which is one of the key factors to manage a huge crowd. Although the Saudi government takes some serious action for the safety of peoples, still technology alone is not a solution. Furthermore, the congestion caused by overpopulation increases the danger of disease transmission due to a lack of sufficient and timely cleaning and sanitation. Efficient management should not only control the crowd but manages the crowd in such a manner that the organizing committee got proper time for cleaning and sanitization works. A novel idea to control the crowd using modern technology and machine learning has been addressed in this research paper. We proposed a clustering-based framework incorporated with batching and slotting. Clustering can create friendly crowds; by batching and slotting we can control the crowd. We design our model as a solution application for the real-life situation of the Hajj.
