Before the examination, patients are encouraged to consume a low-residue diet, and metal-containing drugs and barium examination of the digestive tract are prohibited within 1 week of scanning. On the day of examination, the patient is instructed to fast for more than 4 h, but drinking water is allowed. To obtain good tissue contrast, it is preferred that the patient consume 500–1000 ml of warm water 15–20 min before the examination and another 200–300 ml on the examination table immediately before the scan to fill the stomach and duodenum. Before the examination, patients are instructed to keep the same respiratory amplitude to ensure that the scanning areas in different phases are consistent.
