Mango Leaf Images Quality Improvement Techniques Using Subjective Approach of Image Enhancement

摘要

Image visual enhancement essentially improves the interpretation or perception of information in images for the human viewer and provides better input for automated image processing techniques. The main purpose of image enhancement is to change the characteristics of an image to make it more suitable for a specific task. For identification and classification of diseases in mango plant foliage part, image enhancement is a critical step due to interference and low intensity of images taken from the fields. By using image enhancement, image contrast can be improved to extract the global and local features from the image. In this research we have developed an enhancement method using subjective approach which includes local and global contrast enhancement methods, haze reduction, Decorrelation stretch, Clahe filter, and different de-noising using filter techniques to enhance leaf images. This developed method is tested on low contrast images and by observing the results it can be said that these applied methods work well for enhancing leaf images, which helps in disease identification and classification in leaf images.
