Switched Capacitor Interleaved Buck Converter with Balancing Voltage Capability and Low Inrush Input Current

摘要

In the switched capacitors interleaved converter to achieve voltage step-down conversion, there are severe ripple problems exposed at the situations of high output current and low output voltage. In addition, there are severe oscillations on voltages of the switched capacitors and high inrush input current at startup. For this, the improved topology with series inductors in the switched capacitors’ branches is proposed to solve the severe ripple problems existing in the original topology. Consequently, it is proved that it can balance voltages of the switched capacitors automatically in the improved topology even with the mismatched switched capacitors at high output current. In addition, there are lower inrush input current, lower overshoot, and faster response in the improved topology compared with the original topology. Operating principle of the proposed converter is illustrated. Finally, simulation results verify the theoretical analysis.
