Time Translations and Hamiltonian

In the latter of the three chapters devoted to the basic dynamical variables the Hamiltonian will be introduced as the generator of time translations. The time-dependent equation of motion will be derived as well as the Schr \(\ddot{\textrm{o}}\) dinger equation for stationary states. By solving the stationary equation for simple one-dimensional systems, remarkable quantum effects will be encountered, including the striking barrier penetr-ation, known as tunneling.
