Gender Identity and Role: Revisiting the Psychosocial Mosaic
摘要
This chapter illustrates the various shades of psychological bodies around gender, and sexuality. The key endeavor of this segment is to deconstruct the notions of moving beyond the gender binary, the most contemporary paradigm adopted. A nuanced understanding of gender, especially in the context of sexual development is crucial when handling clinical concerns around the (ab)normalcy around sexual development of children. It intends to render some psychological insights into notions around gender and sexuality. Appreciating the varied socio-cultural nuances of gendering is pivotal for developing a multi-dimensional approach to building psychotherapeutic interventions when dealing with cases of DSD and their caregivers.
