Quality of Life, Psychosocial Outcomes, and Care Beyond Childhood (Transitional Care)
摘要
Disorders for sex differentiation (DSD) present as a rare congenital condition that has a significant impact on the quality of life of the affected individuals. Interestingly, the quality of life (QoL) is not only influenced by medical condition but also psychological well-being, social functionality, and cultural response. The assessment of these factors is essential to monitor the treatment outcome and its quality. Timely disclosure of DSD diagnosis and related fertility issues, with gradual reinforced education and psychological counselling, results in less likelihood of children and parents developing adverse psychosocial outcomes. Continuous communication and tripartite engagement of patients with DSD, pediatric and adult service providers are essential pillars for transitional care with successful outcomes.
