摘要

Feminizing genitoplasty is a commonly done reconstructive surgery for external genitalia of some of the cases of DSD, where there are varying degrees of virilization of external genitalia due to various causes, the commonest being congenital adrenal hyperplasia. This surgery is technically very demanding due to varying degrees of virilization and length of the common urogenital sinus. While doing clitoroplasty, one must take all precautions to preserve normal clitoral innervation for normal sexual satisfaction. There is still no consensus about the ideal age for surgery for feminizing genitoplasty in CAH. Feminizing genitoplasty is commonly done for CAH patients and other conditions like Ovotesticular DSD, Gonadal dysgenesis (Mixed gonadal dysgenesis [MGD]). Vaginoplasty may be required for Complete Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome [CAIS] at puberty if the vaginal pouch is not of adequate length for sexual intercourse.
