摘要

The process of gonad and genital development is strictly regulated. Placental, fetal, and maternal hormones are among those factors that affect its development. A few number of genes play a crucial role in the gonad development process. The sex-determining region-Y protein, which controls the development of male gonads, is one of the most significant genes. Important genes, including SRY, SF-1, Wilms’ tumor related 1 (WTI), GATA4, and SOX9, will be briefly discussed in this chapter along with the intricate connections between these genes during gonadal development.
