摘要

Protein-protein interaction (PPI) data reveals intricate connections among proteins in diverse biological processes. Extending this analysis to understand PPIs across organisms, especially viral-host interactions, is crucial for insights into viral diseases’ mechanisms. The study discussed in this chapter focuses on interactions between HIV-1 and human proteins, employing a heuristic algorithm to identify robust interaction modules from an HIV-1-human PPI dataset. Unlike previous methods, which exclusively targeted complete bicliques, the study developed a multiobjective biclustering technique based on genetic algorithms, demonstrating superior performance. The approach has been applied to the viral-host PPI network, and subsequent analyses have been conducted on HIV-1 and human proteins within the identified biclusters. These analyses reveal valuable insights into HIV-1 pathogenesis. The study underscores the importance of predicting viral-host interactions for potential drug development, particularly those targeting protein-protein interactions.
