摘要

This concluding chapter combines the main ideas and empirical discussions presented in this study. It provides a concise summary of key findings that enhance our understanding of religious tolerance among prospective teachers in Indonesia. The study's objective is to address four research questions, each explored in the subsequent sections: the attitudes of Indonesian pre-service teachers towards religious tolerance, how they incorporate this value into their teaching practices to promote democratic citizenship, their intentions to integrate religious tolerance into future teaching endeavours, and the extent to which the current curriculum equips pre-service teachers to nurture religious tolerance. The study involved 1346 teacher education students from four universities across three provinces. Given the scarcity of large-scale studies focusing on pre-service teachers and religious tolerance in Indonesia, this book is one of the initial works offering comprehensive empirical evidence. It aims to inform and provide recommendations for future teacher educators seeking to instil religious tolerance in the classroom.
