摘要

In this chapter, we present the quantitative results obtained from the survey, focusing on comparing responses among participants categorised by their religious affiliations. The majority of pre-service teachers in our study self-identify as Muslims (n = 963, 71.5%), followed by Protestant Christians (n = 237, 17.6%), and Catholics (n = 138, 10.3%). Additionally, five participants associated themselves with Hinduism, two with indigenous beliefs, and one did not specify their religious affiliation. In our analysis of the quantitative data, we specifically examine responses from participants belonging to the Muslim, Protestant Christian (shortened as Protestant), and Catholic religious groups. The chapter examines the importance of religious tolerance among the participating pre-service teachers which is an influential aspect of intellectual humility as influenced by their religious beliefs and practices. It also highlights how they position their teaching practice to support democratic citizenship. The pre-service teachers involved in the study demonstrated a favourable view of religious tolerance. This is evident in their support for freedom of religious observance, the election of government officials and the construction of places of worship. However, there is a contrast in their attitudes regarding endorsing interreligious marriage and allowing religious observance within specific sects. Notably, a considerable number of participants exhibit low tolerance towards the personal practice of interreligious marriage. The chapter discusses the above constructs and links them to relevant past studies and the context of Indonesia.
