Indigenous Technical Knowledge (ITK) Associated with Fisheries of Indigenous Small Fishes (ISFs) in Indian Inland Waters: Present Status, Issues, and Way Forward
摘要
Indigenous technical knowledge (ITK) associated with fisheries of Indigenous small fish (ISF) in Indian inland waters has its importance in the sustainable management of those fishes. The huge diversity of the ITKs was observed in open-water fisheries in India. The reported fishing methods along with associated gear were classified under 12 categories, and their brief description is presented. Issues associated with the preservation of those ITKs have been highlighted.
