Pyrene-based stimuli-responsive materials, renowned for their exceptional fluorescence properties, represent a cutting-edge category of functional materials. These materials undergo significant alterations in their physical and chemical properties in response to various external stimuli, including mechanical force, temperature, light, and chemical environments. Their unique responsiveness has garnered substantial attention, particularly for their potential applications in smart sensors, anti-counterfeiting technologies, and flexible electronic devices. In this entry, we provide a detailed summary of the advanced achievements of pyrene-based stimuli-responsive materials in response to the five most representative types of stimuli: ions, force, light, electricity, and temperature. Through typical examples, we demonstrated how each system achieves the desired stimulus-responsive fluorescence performance to meet the needs of various applications (especially in fluorescence anti-counterfeiting, bioimaging, fluorescence sensing, etc.). Finally, the key working principles behind these systems are revealed and clarified, which provides new insights and guidance for the design and engineering of next-generation stimuli-responsive luminescent materials to achieve wider applications. The innovative developments in this field not only highlight the vast potential of pyrene-based materials but also underscore their significance in addressing contemporary technological challenges.

摘要
