摘要
This study has traced the history of interrelations between bovine stock and crops in Western India. Through archival research, it has engaged with questions that confronted colonial experts working on the issues of cattle breeding, plant breeding, veterinary science and organized dairyingDairying. It started by reviewing scholarly literature on the history of pastoral and agro-pastoral society in India, which discusses a fraught symbiosis that existed between crop cultivation and livestock rearing.
