Principle and Research Progress of Visible Light Communication

Visible light-emitting diode (LED) communication combines lighting and communication and has the advantages of high efficiency and energy saving, which are highly valued. This paper starts by elaborating on the LED light-emitting principle, introduces the progress of visible LED communication research, and analyzes some key technologies in the communication system. For the indoor application of white LED communication, the layout of LED light sources and visible light positioning are discussed, as well as several common visible light heterogeneous networking schemes. Finally, the future development direction of visible light communication is presented.
