Principles and Research Progress on LEDs

LED is highly valued by the society for its energy-saving, efficient, durable, green, environmental protection, and other advantages and has a wide range of applications in display screens, traffic lights, LCD screen backlights, greenhouse fill lights and daily lighting, and even communications. Starting from the principle of LED, this paper introduces the optical and electrical characteristics of LED, discusses the research and progress of red, green, yellow, and blue LEDs, and expounds on the light-emitting principle and research progress of white LED. The application of white LED in visible full-duplex communication is summarized, and finally, the future development of LED is prospected.
