Mode Methods in Adaptive Optics

Adaptive optics can effectively correct the wavefront distortion caused by atmospheric turbulence in optical wireless communication systems. As an adaptive optical control algorithm, the mode method has a significant effect on improving the performance of adaptive optical systems. This chapter systematically describes the research progress of Zernike mode method, deformable mirror eigenmode method, Lukosz mode method and Legendre mode method in the field of adaptive optics at home and abroad, introduces the common mode method and correction principle in detail, and briefly introduces the quality evaluation method of wavefront distortion correction in adaptive optics system and the application of mode method in wavefront correction. The research emphasis of mode method is to reduce the error and improve the speed accuracy, which directly affects the ability of wavefront distortion correction, and then affects the performance of adaptive optics system.
