Early-age Cracking Control on Concrete with Fly Ash

  • Dejian Shen

摘要

High performance concrete and high strength concrete have been extensively applied for their high strength, durability and low permeability properties. However, the significant early-age shrinkage of high performance concrete and high strength concrete with low water-to-cement ratio induces high cracking potential. Fly ash can be used as a mineral admixture of high performance concrete and reduce autogenous shrinkage and dry shrinkage. In this chapter, early-age cracking control on concrete with fly ash was investigated. The uniaxial tensile strength, tensile Young’s modulus, compressive strength, and compressive Young’s modulus of high strength concrete with fly ash were tested and prediction models for uniaxial tensile strength, and tensile Young’s modulus were proposed. The results showed that the addition of fly ash increased the cracking resistance of high performance concrete under both circumferential restrained condition and uniaxial restrained condition.
