Cell Suspension Culture-Mediated Secondary Metabolites Production from Medicinal Plants with Antiallergy Properties
摘要
The increasing global prevalence of allergic diseases, affecting 20% of the population, necessitates novel antiallergic treatments. Traditional medications, particularly H1-blockers, have certain limitations that lead to a shift toward herbal substances. This chapter explores the potential of plant cell culture, emphasizing the sustainable production of antiallergic compounds via a fusion of traditional knowledge and cutting-edge plant biotechnology, the research endeavors to optimize plant cell cultures, employing diverse strategies such as cell line selection, precursor feeding, optimization of culture condition, permeabilization, and elicitation. This intricate engineering process aims to manipulate cell culture parameters, ultimately leading to heightened yields of valuable bioactive compounds. Furthermore, this chapter delves into the extensive utilization of cell suspension cultures to augment the production of plant secondary metabolites derived from well-known antiallergy plants. It explores how this specialized approach has been strategically employed to amplify the yield of bioactive compounds with antiallergic plants. Through a detailed examination of various techniques, including optimization of culture condition, selection of cell line, and elicitation strategies, the chapter sheds light on the pivotal role of cell suspension cultures in elevating the biosynthesis of secondary metabolites.
