FDR Cable Defect Detection Method Based on Attenuation Compensation

A cable defect detection method based on attenuation compensation is proposed to address the current issue of frequency domain reflection (FDR) method in detecting cables, where the signal attenuates significantly during long cable transmission, resulting in smaller amplitudes at the ends and defects. This method first approximates the linear variation of the attenuation factor with the test frequency based on the measured data of a domestic 10 kV cable, and then deconvolutes it in the frequency domain. The simulation model shows that this method can effectively weaken the negative impact caused by excessive attenuation of the signal during cable propagation; Finally, this method was tested on 500 m and 1500 m cables, and the test results indicate that this method can effectively compensate for the normalized amplitude of cable ends and defects, confirming the effectiveness of this method.
