Design and Simulation of Multi-stage Coilgun

摘要

A 3-stage induction coilgun was designed for the application of ultrafast valve closure. In the design process, the original field-circuit calculation program was improved according to the characteristics of the multi-stage induction coilgun to simulate the launching process of the multi-stage induction coilgun. The coupling between the multi-stage thrust coil and the armature and the temperature of the armature during the launching process are calculated, combined with the motion equation of the armature, the velocity displacement characteristics of the projectile, the discharge current waveform and the thrust waveform of the power supply modules at all stages are given. The results of the field-circuit calculation program and commercial finite element analysis software are compared and analyzed, and the results of the two are in good agreement. Based on the above results, the main parameters of the pulse power supply system and the design parameters of the coils at all stages are given, and the mechanical properties of the coils and the thermal and mechanical characteristics of the armature are verified through simulation analysis, and a relatively reasonable design is finally obtained. The calculation results show that the 3-stage coilgun design can accelerate a 2.8 kg projectile to about 115 m/s, with an efficiency of about 16.97%.
