Thermal Analysis of High Power Permanent Magnet Synchronous Wind Generator

Offshore wind power is becoming the main direction for the development of the wind power industry. With the increase of installed capacity, high-power permanent magnet generators have become a hot research topic for scholars. At present, the cooling system design of high-power permanent magnet wind generators lacks corresponding design experience and reference. In this paper, take a 12 MW permanent magnet synchronous wind generator as the research object, and the design cooling system adopts rotor internal circulation ventilation cooling and stator casing water circulation cooling. The temperature field of the generator under rated operating conditions is calculated using 3D finite element method. On this basis, a prototype was manufactured, and the calculated results were consistent with the experimental measurement results. The temperature of each component of the permanent magnet generator met the assessment requirements, and the theoretical analysis was verified through prototype experiments.
