Rohingyas in Bangladesh: Economic and Environmental Conflict Potential

This chapter elaborates upon the economic and environmental conflict potential of the Rohingya conflict in Bangladesh. The economic and environmental situation within the host country of Bangladesh has taken a significant detrimental turn after the increased pressure exerted by the growing Rohingya refugee population on its resources. The areas of economic and environmental conflict potential of the Rohingya crisis in the host state have been assessed across four areas. These areas are unmet demand for commodities, livelihood competition, price hikes, and environmental degradation. The discussion then moves to focusing on the key areas of this dimension of conflict potential in Bangladesh.
