Menopause-Friendly Corporate Policies for Sustainable Development

The researchers wanted to find out how a very natural phenomenon that all women go through namely, menopause is treated at the workplace and what companies in India are doing to help them deal with it. They also wished to study the varied manner in which good, competent women can be retained in the workforce so that they rise to top positions and lead the company towards sustainable progress. For this purpose, they used the interview technique. They interviewed women in India from the premenopausal, menopausal, and post-menopausal stages as also a couple of young women. They also interviewed a male candidate to get a general idea of male perception of the role that corporate can play to help women tide over this very natural biological stage in their lives. They also took help of secondary resources by accessing research articles from reputed journals to get insights into this very important topic. The findings showed that menopause is a topic that is generally not discussed at the workplace and that there are no defined policies for the same.
