Developing a Framework for Waste Management of Electrical and Electronic Equipment Aligning Sustainable Circular Economy

A circular economy is an economic system that emphasizes resource recycling and conservation which tackles the global challenge of economic growth. To attain the objective of zero waste, the United Nations urges people, governments, and organizations to recycle and decrease trash. The 12th Sustainable Development Goal expresses the value of recycling while highlighting the significance of responsible production and consumption. Sustainable Development Goal 12 includes targets on reducing pollution and health consequences and supporting ecologically sound management of all waste created across the product life cycle. With technological advancement, the quantity of Waste Management of Electrical and Electronic Equipment, generated worldwide also increases yearly. A severe problem for the entire planet is the increase in technical garbage. As a result, it is essential to manage this e-waste generated appropriately. Standard includes Landfilling, Acid Bath, Incineration, Recycling, and Reuse. This research aims to identify the Waste Management of Electrical and Electronic Equipment, management laws applied by various advanced and emerging countries, management practices used by developed and emerging nations, and the gaps in management practices followed in emerging nations. The research adopts a qualitative method to examine the legislation and procedures followed concerning Waste Management of Electrical and Electronic Equipment management; the study uses PRISMA model for screening the literature. The countries considered for the study are four advanced countries namely the United States of America, Australia, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and four emergings: Brazil, South Africa, China, and India. The study puts forward a framework for effective Waste Management of Electrical and Electronic Equipment management in emerging countries by assessing the gaps in management practices in emerging countries.
