Technology Adoption in Halal Logistics in Malaysia: Exploring Types, Benefits and Challenges for Halal Warehouse and Transportation

Technology adoption in halal warehouses is very important. This research paper is to identify the types of technology adoption in halal logistics focusing on warehouses and transportation, including a discussion on the benefits and challenges of the implementation. This research utilizes a systematic literature review (SLR) approach to evaluate the data from the past 10 years of published papers from 2011 to 2021. The papers are derived from databases and Publisher: Google Scholar, Science Direct, Emerald Insight, IEEE Explore, and Springe. This research identifies a few technologies such as RFID, wearables, blockchain technology, internet of things (IOT), and GPS. These technologies are very important to sustain the halal product status and maintain the integrity of the halal products. While for the benefit gain from the adoption and implementation of technology for operator, such as cross-contamination control, food safety and cleanliness control, risk management control, transparency, improved efficiency and effectiveness in operation. Lastly, the challenges of technology adoption for transportation and warehouse specifically for Halal logistics are high cost, lack of government support and complexity.
