Outdoor Air Quality and Assessment of Its Potential Health Risk to Human Being

Outdoor air pollution is one of the greatest threats worldwide due to its enormous effects on human health. WHO, a global health organization agency, monitored the status of countries’ air pollution and health effects on human. Recently WHO provided data that depicted that about 99% of the world population lived where the WHO air quality guidelines levels were violated. As a result of global estimation, about 4.2 million premature deaths are caused by outdoor air pollution. In India 1.7 million died due to air pollution in 2019. There are numerous studies such as epidemiological, toxicological and clinicals report showed that outdoor air pollution is significantly associated with various health effects such as eye and nose irritation, allergic rhinitis, sore throat, chronic cough, bronchitis, sinusitis, chest dyspnoea, bronchial asthma, cardiovascular disease, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), lung cancer, reproductive disorder, effects on child cognitive function, Alzheimer’s disease and so many others like oxidative stress, change in gene expression etc. In this study text mining analyser was used to find out the major health effects caused by outdoor air pollution. The asthma, cardiovascular disease, coughing, COPD, other respiratory disorder, immune system damage and oxidative stress are the major health effects on human due to exposure of outdoor air pollution. The study aims to raise awareness among readers, educators, students, and policymakers about the sources and health impacts of outdoor air pollution, fostering informed decision-making and policy development for addressing this pressing issue.
