Vikaspedia—Leveraging Technology for a Digitally Informed and Empowered Bharat

In today’s knowledge economy, India is well poised to leverage the benefits of ICT for digital empowerment of its citizens. There has been consistent progress in addressing the challenges that hinder its progress—be it technological, infrastructure or social. Vikaspedia is in response to limitations that exist at the social front. It facilitates the digital empowerment of citizens through a multi-stakeholder digital ecosystem that enables availability of universally accessible e-knowledge resources in Indian languages, collaboratively created and shared by a community of development stakeholders. The paper shares the objectives, strategies followed, implementation process, challenges faced and the outcomes of the initiative.
