Providing a brief description of the components of the hydrologic cycleHydrologic cycle, this chapter discusses the elements of hydrologic modellingHydrologic modelling, including different kinds of models, parameter estimation, model calibrationModel calibration and validationValidation, sensitivity analysisSensitivity analysis, and error analysis. Various kinds of hydrologic data needed for modelling are outlined. The chapter is concluded with the organisation of the book.
