Strategic Short Note: Myanmar Climate-Smart Agriculture
摘要
Agriculture is playing a crucial role in the country’s food security and serving as the primary source of income for its people in Myanmar. Myanmar’s vast agroecological range allows for the cultivation of many diverse crop species. However, the country is suffering from the negative impacts of climate change, such as inconsistent and scarce rainfall, heat stress, droughts, floods, seawater intrusion, land degradation, deforestation, and other natural calamities. In the face of climate change, ensuring the nation’s food supply will necessitate a steady and substantial increase in agricultural output. Efforts to adapt to and mitigate climate change in the agricultural sector must be undertaken with food and nutrition security. The adoption of climate-resilient agricultural practices that can endure climatic shifts and aid in reducing greenhouse gas emissions will necessitate the introduction of new technologies, alterations to existing ones, and amendments to pertinent laws and policies.
