Pivotal to the Future of Catholic Primary Schools: Teachers Who Are not Catholic

摘要

This chapter explores the situation and importance of ‘non-Catholic’ primary school teachers in Catholic primary schools in EnglandEngland. A central part of this analysis is listening to the voice of non-Catholic primary teachers. Without these teachers it would not be possible for Catholic primary schools to function. It is explained that these teachers are not able to take up senior leadershipLeadership roles in these schools. Three serious implications are identified and discussed. It is concluded that the system of Catholic primary schools as it currently exists is unsustainable without these non-Catholic teachers, and it is proposed that an alternative discourse is needed. For Catholic school leadersCatholic school leaders in primary schools this is a very important issue.
