The Life and Ministry of Jesus: A Model of Emotionally Intelligent Leadership for Catholic Schools

There are a variety of different contemporary models of leadershipLeadership that can be used in Catholic schools. Some of these are drawn, partially drawn, or discerned from the life and ministry of Jesus and are considered to be appropriate for Catholic schools. This includes servant leadershipServant leadership, transrelational leadership, leadership for adaptive change and transcendent leadership. The model of the emotionally intelligent leader is a model of leadership that has also been attracting increasing attention in recent research into school leadershipSchool leadership. This chapter argues that this too is an appropriate model for use in Catholic schools, and the chapter draws from the life and ministry of Jesus to demonstrate that he exemplified a high level of emotional intelligenceEmotional intelligence.
