摘要

The production of global food crop that is potato is reduced by 60–75% by severe viral strains. More than 40 distinct viral incitants and disorders linked to potatoes have been documented to date. The transboundary movement of potato germplasm which has significantly increased in the recent years was due to trade globalisation. However, it puts a lot of pressure on national quarantine authorities to precisely detect viral infection in seed tubers and true seed in order to ensure safer transboundary movement/transportation. The precise and thorough detection of virus in the seed stocks and the destruction of the virus from affected seed tubers are the two most effective and dependable ways to prevent viral infection in a natural environment. Keeping this in mind, efforts have been made to compile the most recent information on the detection and identification of viruses of the potato using most advanced techniques, like those based on serology, nucleic acids, and symptoms. This effort will aid in effective/dependable potato health monitoring and sustainable agriculture. It will also give researchers more information to use these strategies effectively for various researches for production and maintenance of healthy seed stocks.
