Overview of Intelligent Fault Diagnosis and Maintenance for Rotating Machinery

The development of artificial intelligence (AI) technology provides great opportunities and challenges for the intelligent operation and maintenance and health management of mechanical equipment. This chapter first reviews the concepts and steps of prognostics and health management (PHM) and condition-based maintenance (CBM). In order to enrich the connotation of PHM and CBM, the concepts of intelligent maintenance and health management are proposed. Meanwhile, some methods of intelligent maintenance and health management combined with AI technology are reviewed. Next, the objectives of this monograph are introduced. Finally, the organization of the remaining chapters in this monograph is presented to guide readers.
