Agricultural Waste as Efficiently Natural Inhibitors for Corrosion

摘要

Agricultural waste materials have gained increasing attention as a sustainable and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic inhibitors for the corrosion preservation of metals in various industries. Utilization of agricultural waste, such as rice husk, sugarcane bagasse, wheat straw, and many other abundant resources, has been shown to be effective in mitigating the corrosive attack on metal surfaces. These materials are rich in natural compounds, such as lignin, cellulose, and hemicellulose, which possess inherent inhibitory properties. This chapter tries to introduce the utilization of agricultural waste as a corrosion inhibitor, with a focus on the mechanisms of inhibition and the various experimental methods used to evaluate their effectiveness. The chemical and physical characteristics of different agricultural waste materials and their impact on corrosion inhibition will also be discussed. The chapter will cover recent research studies, including the use of agricultural waste extracts, biopolymers, and nanoparticles as effective corrosion inhibitors. Additionally, this chapter will highlight the environmental benefits of using agricultural waste as a corrosion inhibitor, such as reducing waste disposal and minimizing the use of harmful synthetic chemicals. The economic advantages of utilizing these materials will also be discussed, including their low cost and availability. In summary, the utilization of agricultural waste as a corrosion inhibitor is a promising area of research, offering a sustainable, cost-effective, and eco-friendly alternative to synthetic inhibitors. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of the art in this field, highlighting its potential applications and future research directions.
