Corrosion Mitigation Using Green Chemicals
摘要
Traditional corrosion inhibitors have proven effective but come with significant drawbacks, including environmental impact, toxicity concerns, and regulatory restrictions. However, considering environmental impacts, there is an increasing demand for more sustainable alternatives. “Green chemicals” or “environmentally friendly chemicals” potentially offer novel and effective pathways for reducing and controlling corrosion. This book chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the application of green chemicals for corrosion mitigation. The utilization of green chemicals offers a sustainable and environmentally friendly approach to mitigate corrosion while minimizing the adverse impacts on human health and the ecosystem. This chapter discusses the limitations of traditional inhibitors and the need for new approaches, including green chemicals. The chapter explores the classifications, principles, mechanisms, advantages, and challenges of green chemicals as corrosion inhibitors. It also highlights several case studies and recent advancements in this field. The chapter concludes with future prospects and potential challenges in the development and implementation of green chemical solutions for corrosion mitigation.
