The Future of Chinese Archaeology

Where is the future of Chinese archaeology? This is a question we have to answer. It would be an oversimplification to state that Western archaeology is the future of Chinese archaeology. After years of thinking and practice, my answer is to let Chinese archaeology return to its original position: its existence as history, as culture. Chinese archaeology should utilise the fruits of modernity. I advocate incorporating Western ideas into Chinese practice and endorse decentralised global archaeology. There, Chinese archaeology will find its rightful place.
