A Review on Recent Advancement in Wearable Textile Antennas & Its Applications

Nowadays, wearable antennas are very essential for wireless communication in various applications such as position tracking, health monitoring, navigation and safety, wireless body area network (W-BAN), defense, etc. due to its flexibility, stability, and robustness. Recently these characteristics of the wearable/textile antennas have attracted the researchers and industries for real-time applications based on Internet of Things (IoT) enabled devices. As compared to conventional antennas, wearable antennas have lot of advantages like ease of integration with daily wears, cost effectiveness, lightweight, and operational at multiple resonant frequencies for various applications. Wearable antennas have low SAR (Specific Absorption Rate) which has the ability to provide shielding from the adverse effects of the human body. This review paper mentions all the critical issues related to the designs of wearable antennas, procedures and techniques used to fabricate the prototype, and other crucial parameters have been taken into account. The current developments in flexible wearable or textile antenna domain have been incorporated in this manuscript.
