Compressed Coding Method for Information Transmission via UAVs Over Remote Ocean Environments
摘要
This paper proposes a data compression technique to share information gathered by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) and ships operating in remote ocean environments. Such data sharing faces challenges due to limited connectivity, high costs, and potential disruptions to transmissions. The proposed method leverages attributes of ship data, UAV data, and messaging formats to develop coding procedures for both data senders and receivers. The approach uses dynamic coding tables and efficient bitmap encoding. Testing found that the method reduces the total length of transmitted data by around 90% and the number of data transmissions by 88% compared to simply sending raw information but sacrificed some of the timeliness and accuracy of the data. Thus, the simple yet reliable compression algorithm can effectively convey important UAV and ship data in remote maritime scenarios.
