摘要

The stop-and-start at intersections has become a prominent issue, not only damaging transportation operational efficiency but also leading to energy consumption and pollution. This paper proposes a path-oriented automatic green wave speed control method towards autonomous vehicles. By taking advantage of the vehicle-infrastructure cooperative system, a novel green wave speed control method with and without external interference is developed to dynamically compute and update the optimal speed of vehicles on the entire travel path, through which the number of stops at intersections along the path can be significantly decreased. Simulation results demonstrate that the proposed model reduces intersection stops effectively, improving vehicle travel efficiency by over 30% and reducing energy consumption and pollutant emissions by nearly 50%. Notably, the proposed model does not require adjusting signal timing, and enables vehicles to autonomously adapt to changing traffic signals and road conditions. The research findings contribute not only to enhancing traffic efficiency but also to reducing energy consumption and mitigating pollution emissions, and holding broad prospects in existing advanced driver-assistance systems and future autonomous driving technologies.
