Analysis of Mechanical Properties of Polypropylene Cable Insulation at Different Aging Temperature
摘要
This paper aims to explore the influence of different aging temperature on the mechanical properties of polypropylene cable insulation. Through thermal aging on polypropylene cables, the tensile strength and breaking elongation rate were measured to analyze the mechanical properties of polypropylene cable insulation material under different aging temperature. The results show that with the increase of aging temperature, the mechanical properties of polypropylene cable insulation material vary from a certain degree. Moreover, the higher the aging temperature, the faster the mechanical properties decline. The scanning electron microscopy observation shows that the surface of polypropylene material appears laminar structure after thermal aging, which is the degradation and fracture of polypropylene molecule chains and the material has cracks. This study has certain reference significance for the use of polypropylene cables and the estimation of their service life.
