Comprehensive Design of Electrical Machines for Integrated Pulsed Discharge Systems

Based on the radial integrated pulsed discharge systems of prime motor and pulsed alternator, the match criteria between the specification parameters of motor and alternator are studied, and the electromagnetic design method of electrical machines is presented. Taking the fully iron-cored integrated rotor topology as an example, the main components of the integrated structure topology are introduced. Based on the driving modes for the motor, the recovery time for energy storage of the rotor of the pulsed alternator is derived. The recovery time of the rotor is combined with the specifications of pulsed alternator, the minimum specification parameters for prime motor are determined. Based on the design method for main dimensions of motors and pulsed alternators, and combined with the same rotor and speed conditions, the main calculation formulas for the electromagnetic design of electrical machines are analyzed and derived. The steady-state and transient discharge characteristics of design scheme for fully iron-cored integrated topology are analyzed by using finite element method, and the accuracy of electromagnetic design of electrical machines is verified.
