Development of Novel Ultrasonic Waveguide Sensor with Non-leaky Waves for Multi Point Temperature Measurements

摘要

This paper reports on the development of a waveguide sensor (tubular in nature) to generate non leaky ultrasonic guided waves in tubular pipes to measure surrounding medium temperature. For that purpose, ‘Disperse’ software is utilized to analyze dispersion curves for the waveguide (which is tubular in nature). For the numerical analysis Abaqus is being used as a finite element tool. By using the numerical analysis in the Abaqus software Finite element package, the optimization is being done on the parameters of the waveguide. Work on the different geometry is being carried out as well along with hollow tubular waveguides for transmission of guided waves with minimum leakage. For the experimental procedure ultrasonic guided waves is used for checking the leakage in the developed waveguide. This work is of interest to industrial applications including furnace wall temperature measurements in petrochemical industries etc.
