Design and Simulation of Hybrid Airfoils for Wind Turbine

The cross-sectional geometry of the wing blade (airfoil) significantly influences the performance of a wind turbine. This work aims to design hybrid airfoils that could improve wind turbine efficiency. The hybrid airfoils are designed using airfoils that are popularly used for wind turbines. The aerodynamic performance of different hybrid airfoils is studied numerically and compared at different angles of attack. We have selected different known airfoils for designing the hybrid airfoils. Ansys-Fluent, a commercial fluid dynamics solver, has been used for computation with the SST k-ω model.
